Information
Brookline's sister city has been Quezalguaque, Nicaragua, located in the Northwest Region of the country since the founding of the project in 1987. Over the years the project has grown and developed a variety of initiatives in the community around topics of health, education and resources. Although the two might be sister cities, there could not be a greater difference in the water supply. Brookline citizens have one of the cleanest sources of drinking water, whereas Quezalguaque citizens struggle to receive basic access to a safe and reliable water source. There is great and understandable fear about the water, as the residents struggle with chronic kidney disease, a possible result of their contaminated water.
